The research group investigates how viruses manipulate mitochondrial function to promote replication and persistence. The lab uses a highly integrative structural virology approach with an experimental toolkit that includes X-ray crystallography, single-particle cryo-EM, in situ cryo-electron tomography, light microscopy, biochemical reconstitution, and advanced cell-biological and virological assays, coupled to artificial intelligence workflows. By combining structural, mechanistic, computational, and cellular approaches, this line of research aims to define fundamental principles of virus–host interactions and to accelerate the development of innovative antiviral interventions.
