CIS focuses on communication from a language perspective in the broadest sense: CIS is about text, talk, gestures, pictures, digital media, and more recently, generative AI.

What are you going to do?
You will teach courses in the Bachelor program of Communication and Information Studies. Those can be general academic skills courses, (qualitative/qualitative) methods courses but, depending on your expertise, also courses on persuasive communication, multimodality, conversation analysis or text analysis.
Who are you?
- You preferably hold or are working towards a PhD in a relevant domain of study (e.g., Communication Studies, Linguistics, Psychology with a focus on qualitative and/or quantitative methods, (e.g. text, discourse or conversation analysis, multimodal analysis, corpus-oriented studies)).
- You have at least one year of relevant teaching experience and preferably relevant teaching qualifications (such as the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), in Dutch: BKO – Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs).
- You like to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
- You have the ability to communicate and teach in English (CEFR C1 level for reading, listening, writing, speaking),
What can you expect from us?
- In accordance with the collective labor agreement for Dutch universities, we offer a salary of at least € 3.546 up to a maximum of € 5.538 (schaal 10) gross per month for a full-time employment contract.
- 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
- End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.

- A temporary employment: 0,8 FTE for a period of one year
Where will you be working?

You will teach in a multidisciplinary program with elements from linguistics, psychology, media studies, sociology, and marketing. CIS is an international degree programme taught in English, by both Dutch and international staff who bring diverse academic backgrounds and areas of expertise to the classroom. The program also offers a Dutch track.
