This project aims to develop eco-friendly electrical steel coatings that utilize sustainable materials and processes for enhanced properties and recyclability.

What are you going to do?
As a postdoctoral researcher you will perform:
- Design and PVD process of eco-friendly electrical steel coatings.
- Integrating CVD process and heat treatment of eco-friendly electrical steel coatings.
- Study the heat treatability of oxide coated electrical steel.
- Investigate the electromagnetic performance of oxide coated electrical steel lamination.
- Explore its recyclability of eco-friendly electrical steel coatings.
Who are you?
We are looking for a curious, focused, and collaborative researcher who thrives on challenges. You will be a strong candidate if you have:
- A PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related discipline. A strong background in physical vapor deposition and chemical vapor deposition will be a clear advantage.
- An excellent academic record and strong expertise in materials characterization and coating technology.
- An independent and creative mindset combined with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Excellent English communication skills both written and oral.
What can you expect from us?
- In accordance with the collective labor agreement for Dutch universities, we offer a salary of at least € 4.251 (schaal 10.4) up to a maximum of € 4.925 (schaal 10.7) gross per month for a full-time employment contract.
- 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
- End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.

- One year plus extension of two years. Start: 1 January 2027
