What are you going to do?

Je bereidt taalvaardigheidscursussen Frans voor, overziet deze, organiseert ze en geeft ze volgens de methode die is ontwikkeld door het Language Learning Team van het ETC, zoals beschreven in onze missieverklaring. Daarnaast werk je nauw samen met andere collega’s binnen de opleiding Europese Talen en Culturen, aan de verdere ontwikkeling van onze aanpak. Kijk hier voor meer informatie over het programma.

Who are you?

You have a command of the French language at the C1/C2 level.

You hold a master’s degree in the humanities, e.g., in linguistics, literature, cultural studies, or history, or a Master of Education.

Ideally, you have relevant experience in an academic FLE context:

  • teaching courses up to the B1 level
  • teaching through tasks, following usage-based and CLIL principles
  • creating evidence-based and research-based teaching materials based on the CEFR.
  • using digital tools to enhance your face-to-face teaching experience organizing virtual exchanges is a plus.

You enjoy working both independently and as part of a team and producing high-quality work.

Your strengths include pedagogical creativity, team spirit, autonomy, entrepreneurship, communication, and efficient organization.

You can communicate and participate in meetings in English (CEFR C1 level in reading, listening, writing, and speaking).

The interviews will most likely take place on 15 and 16 October 2026.

What can you expect from us?

  • In accordance with the collective labor agreement for Dutch universities, we offer a salary of at least € 3.706 up to a maximum of € 5.760 (salary scale 10) gross per month for a full-time employment contract.
  • 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
  • End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.
  • Extensive opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • This is a temporary position, due to sick leave replacement.

Where will you be working?

Students in the BA European Languages ??and Cultures (ELC) programme choose a specialization track—Language and Society, Culture and Literature, or Politics and Society—combined with one of eight languages. In addition to German, these include Dutch as a Second Language (NT2), English, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish. The language programmes build on the expertise of a motivated international team of language instructors, ensuring that language acquisition is fully integrated with learning about the target language and culture. At ELC, we employ effective, research-based teaching methods and the latest technological innovations to support language learning and to strengthen our students’ profiles as future language ambassadors and cultural mediators for Europe.

Stap 1: Your application

We would like to get to know each other better in a first interview, which can take place either online or on location.

Stap 4: Second interview and possible assessment or guest lecture

We may schedule a second interview with you. Depending on the position, this interview can be complemented with an assessment or guest lecture.

Stap 5: Terms of employment meeting

After a positive interview, we will discuss the terms of employment together. When everything is completed, we are happy to welcome you at the University of Groningen!
