We are looking for a teacher to support our team Science and Society Education.
In our education we focus on all kinds of different aspects of science and society. Hereby you can think of professionalisation, business, policy, ethics, sustainability, teamwork, soft skills etc. Our preferred form for this is project based learning to allow students to apply scientific knowledge in a broader (multidisciplinary) context and communicate this to non-specialists. We are currently looking for support in several of our undergraduate and graduate courses, this will include guiding tutorials, supervision of student groups, grading exams and project work and supporting the team with all kinds of activities.

What are you going to do?
You are going to be involved in our teaching portfolio which includes the Science, Business and Policy (SBP) track in most of the master’s programmes, 9 courses in the faculty’s bachelor’s programmes on Science, Ethical and Professional Aspects (SEPA), 3 courses within the university broad minor Future Planet Innovations (FPI) and more. The courses are interdisciplinary and most of them include projects that take place outside academia. We expect the teacher to (co)supervise projects and tutorials within the SBP track and other courses. - Introduction Science and Business (SBP track).
- Introduction to Science and Policy (SBP track).
- Work Placement Science Business and Policy (SBP track).
- Global Challenges (minor FPI).
- Biology & Society: Ethical and Professional Aspects (SEPA).
- Physics, Astronomy & Society: Ethical & Professional Aspects (SEPA).
- Biomedical Sciences: Professional Perspectives.
- Competences and professionalization in Biology.
You will
- Execute tutorials within the courses listed above.
- (Co)supervise (BSc and MSc) internships at companies and (non-)governmental organizations.
- Act as second assessor for project work.
- Participate in educational training (approximately 10% of the position).
- Contribute to the organization of education.
- Contribute in educational administration.
- Support senior staff were necessary.
Who are you?
- You have a MSc or Phd in a science or engineering discipline.
- You have experience with various types of academic teaching and learning.
- You have an interest in innovation, economics, business and policy studies.
- You have experience or affinity outside of academia, such as in business, consultancy, government, or non-governmental organizations.
- You are a flexible and creative team player.
- You have strong communication skills (proficiency in both English and Dutch).
- You can start in August.
What can you expect from us?
- In accordance with the collective labor agreement for Dutch universities, we offer a salary of at least € 3.546 (schaal 10) up to a maximum of € 6.433 (schaal 11.11) gross per month for a full-time employment contract.
- 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
- End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.

- One year Teacher position due to sick leave replacement (aug 2026-aug 2027)
