What are you going to do?
The selected candidate will perform a senior leadership role within Cluster 1 or the Faculty of Arts including, but not limited to: Cluster Board member, director of the Centre for International Relations Research (CIRR), Programme Coordinator of any of the Cluster Programmes, and must be willing to perform line management duties if and when required. Your time will be split as 60% education and 40% research time.
For this role, we are looking for someone who:
- Has already performed at the level of UD1 for at least a year.
- Has delivered teaching in International Relations at BA and MA level for at least six years.
- Has a research portfolio with publications of the field of International Relations at large.
- Has participated in PhD supervision in the field of International Relations.
- Has clear leadership skills demonstrated by past achievement and current performance
- Is willing, and has a vision to take up managerial leadership responsibilities within the Department of International Relations and International Relations (Cluster One) and/or the Centre for International Relations Research (CIRR).
- Is a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Works in a results-oriented manner and can independently set priorities.
- Is flexible and adapts quickly to a dynamic work environment.
- Has a clear vision on how to further develop teaching and research within the Department of International Relations and International Relations (Cluster One) and the Centre for International Relations Research (CIRR).

What can you expect from us?
- In accordance with the collective labor agreement for Dutch universities, we offer a salary of at least € 6.512 up to a maximum of € 7.904 (Schaal 13) gross per month for a full-time employment contract.
- 232 vacation hours per year, based on a 38-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). You can also work more or fewer hours in exchange for more or fewer free hours. For example, with a 40-hour workweek, you save 96 extra free hours, and with a 36-hour workweek, you lose 96 hours.
- End-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 8% holiday allowance.

- Contract duration: A permanent appointment of 1.0 FTE

The Department of International Relations and International Organisation (Cluster 1)
The Department of International Relations and International Organization (IRIO) is committed to top-tier research combined with high quality education and research. Students and staff are drawn to studying international relations and the role of international organization in an integrated manner from historical, political, economic and legal angles. The Bachelor and Master degree programs are taught in English. There are currently about 1,000 students registered for the various IRIO programs. Additionally, the Department contributes to the EMJMD 2-year Master degree program in Humanitarian Action, coordinated by the Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA), and the Research Master in International Relations with a specialization in Modern History. Research in the department is organized through the Centre for IR Research (CIRR) around five chair groups, respectively in: History & Theory of IR; IR and Security Studies; International Political Economy (IPE); Global Politics of Europe; and Global Political Anthropology.
